Not all companies will have the budget in place for a digital marketer, or social media marketer.  However, this doesn’t mean that these businesses can’t still create their social media marketing strategy and implement this.  Of course, if you are new to social media marketing, this will require a bit of research on your part first.  You will need to understand not only your business goals and your customers behaviours.  But you will also need a strong idea as to what social media marketing is and how you can use this to your advantage.

Tips for creating your own Social Media Management strategy:

This interesting blog by BufferApp.com has a very useful ‘how to’ guide, that explains everything you need to do to create your own marketing strategy.  I recommend reading the entire article, however, here are some of the best tips;

  1. Know your audience. Find out which social media sites your customers use and make your presence on these sites well-known.
  2. Know your limitations. Consistency is key in social media. Therefore, before you start, consider how much time you have to dedicate to your social media accounts each week.
  3. Look at your resources. Do you have everything you need?  For example, do you have the skills? Or the personnel?
  4. Fully complete your profiles.  Your social media profiles need to be fully completed, for example, including photos, logos and contact details.  This shows professionalism and builds trust with your customers.
  5. Find your own style.  For example, if your brand were a person, what would it be like? How would it speak? Reflect all of this in everything you post and in your profile information.
  6. What and when? Ask yourself what kind of things you are going to post, for example, text or videos.  Then think about what time these will be posted and how frequently you’re going to post.
  7. Analyse.  Once you’ve started posting, you can see which posts are more successful.  From this you can see which content your audience prefers and what time of day is best to catch your audience.
